Our denomination, the United Church of Christ, just held its General Synod. I am forwarding a link filled with updates and highlights from the General Synod so that you can peruse them at your leisure (see link below). You will find information on addressing gun violence, responding to the climate crisis, anti-racism work, and so much more. One major highlight was the election of Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson as our new General Minister and President. She is the first black woman to serve in this role and has already served our denomination on a national level for several years.
